Frodsham’s buzzing Gary, says Mayor

Mayor Cllr Mallie Poulton has responded to press reports that Frodsham’s famous son, Gary Barlow, says not a lot happens here, inviting the star to come and see what the town has to offer today.

Speaking earlier today to BBC Merseyside, the Mayor said that Gary doesn’t get back to Frodsham  that often, and the town is very different from when he was growing up. He mentioned choral society Frodsham Sings, Frodsham Players and local amateur operatic society The Zodiac as examples of a thriving local arts scene, as well as the music bar Kash 22 that promotes local artists.

Cllr Poulton revealed that he would be recognising the contribution of Gary and his mum Marjorie to young people and inspiring people in the arts, with an Mayor’s award before the end of his term as Mayor in May.
