Chair delivers gifts to care homes

Council Chair Judith Critchley visited two local care homes on Friday to help deliver gifts for people living with dementia.

Judith was invited by Sally Patrica Derrigan who runs a volunteer group who knit, crochet and sew twiddle muffs and blankets, and outfits for dolls, to be given to people living with dementia, to help improve their quality of life.

The first visit was to Hillcrest care home to deliver twiddle cushions and to join the residents for coffee, biscuits and a sing song. Then onto Heathercliffe to deliver these three ‘babies’ – both staff and residents loved them.

If anyone would like to find out more about comfort doll or donate baby dolls, wool or material to make baby doll outfits you can follow the group on Facebook or contact Judith through the Council office.
