Work was due to start this week (Monday 9th November) by United Utilities (UU) to replace the water main piping between Eddisbury Square and Kash 22. The work was expected to take two weeks to complete.
Due to incorrect information being provided to UU and FTC, the works programme has been amended.
Councillor Caroline Ashton said: “A decision was made by UU to delay the start of the works due to junction 12 not being open as had been previously informed. The afternoon was spent planning the works in the area so that work can continue to improve the water network without the need for the temporary two-way traffic lights in Church Street until Junction 12 of the M56 is fully open.”
Revised timetable:
10th and 11th November
Work will be carried out in the car park to the rear of Eddisbury Square to complete previous work that was started.
There will be a crossing across the car park near the alleyway and work up to the entrance to give the bungalows to the rear a new supply.
12th and 13th November
Investigation work in Kydd’s Wint will be completed to confirm the main depth/material/size and exact locations to ensure the work in the future will be quicker and easier causing less impact.
16th November
Junction 12 on the M56 opens and work will be started on Church Street with the use of temporary two-way traffic lights.
16th-18th November
Cross connection using one side of the road.
18th-20th November
Complete the cross connection to the other side of the road. Backfill, re-instate and clear the job and remove two-way traffic lights.
Councillor Ashton continued: “The traffic lights will still be manned 7am-7pm and only one week of work on Church Street will be carried out, leaving the original completion date the same. However this will mean a further 45 metres of work on Church Street will have to be planned for a later date in the New Year. This will be announced in due course.”
