An official ceremony to award cllr Frank Pennington the Freedom of Frodsham is due to take place on Wednesday 1st June at the Community Centre.
It will take place following a Frodsham Town Council meeting at the same venue, which is being held to officially approve the accolade.
The proposal to award cllr Pennington the honour was made in January at a Frodsham Town Council meeting by fellow cllr, Mallie Poulton.
Cllr Poulton said at the meeting: “Councillor Pennington deserves to receive this accolade having given four decades of dedication to local government in Frodsham.
“The meeting will simply be a vote to approve the award, before a presentation will be made to cllr Pennington.”
Family, friends and well-wishers are all very welcome to attend the event, before enjoying refreshments supplied by The Stroke Club.
Cllr Pennington said: It’s humbling to know this has been suggested by fellow councillors and I’d like to thank my fellow Waterside councillor, Mallie Poulton, for his original proposal.
“I hope to see many old and new friends and residents, and show how delighted I am to receive this award.
“I will continue to serve my residents with the same gusto and work together with my fellow councillors for the good of Frodsham.”
