Frodsham Mayor Cllr Alan Oulton writes:
What a busy few days we’ve had, it just goes to show the wide range of events taking place in Frodsham.
We attended an event at Castle Park Arts Centre on Friday evening. This was staged by Cheshire Open Studios, supporting local artists. During the next few weeks local artists are opening up their studios to everyone. For further details visit their website: cheshireopenstudios.org.uk
We were asked to judge the works and present a Mayor’s Award. After much deliberation we chose two works by David Barnes.
On Saturday we attended the Fire Station Open Day. Frank, our Deputy Mayor accompanied us to this event. This was extra special for myself as I served in the Fire Service for 30 years. We we treated to demonstrations of the tasks that the service undertake, such as dealing with road traffic collisions (RTCs). Frodsham’s new Scania appliance was on display as well as other specialist machines.
Frodsham Fire Station is presently looking to recruit On-Call Firefighters. If you would like further details, the website is: www.cheshirefire.gov.uk or visit the station (on Ship Street) between 6 and 8pm any Tuesday evening, or ‘phone 01606 868700 during office hours.
On Sunday we did an early drop-in at the Community Centre to see how the ‘indoor car boot sale’ was progressing.
Then it was off to Trinity Church at Overton for a Harvest Festival with a difference. We were accompanied by the Deputy Mayor at both events. The service at Trinity gave thanks to all the local business’ in Frodsham. Many shops and businesses supplied logos to be displayed at the service.
