Rail User Group receives award for Halton Curve campaign

Frodsham Mayor Cllr Liam Jones writes about Frodsham’s recent success in Cheshire Best Kept Stations Awards.

“Frodsham did it again! On Tuesday 28th January at the Best Kept Station Awards 2019, the North Cheshire Rail Users’ Group (NCRUG) won the John Hobbs award for both Frodsham and Runcorn Stations thanks to the new Halton Curve service that now connects North Wales to Liverpool through Frodsham and Runcorn.

“I was surprised and delighted to learn that Mark Barker, Chair of Cheshire Best Kept Stations, accepted my nomination of NCRUG for this award, and that I was the first Mayor to make a nomination, which highlights the tremendous work of all the volunteers in NCRUG.

“I am proud of the work and campaign they have led to bring about the reinstatement of the Halton Curve service as well their support for the campaign to prevent demolition of the Old Goods Shed, for keeping our station clean and looking beautiful, and for holding our rail service providers to account.

“I’d like to thank all the NCRUG members and congratulate them for this well deserved award.

“NCRUG will celebrating their 30th Birthday this year. Let’s help Frodsham celebrate this. Details to follow.”
