Free online honour based abuse awareness sessions

Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire John Dwyer has partnered with Savera UK to raise awareness of ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices with the aim of helping those at-risk across the county.

More than 2,000 HBA offences are recorded in the UK each year. But it is believed this figure is just the tip of the iceberg.

Savera UK is a charity working to end HBA and harmful practices. ‘Savera’ means ‘new beginning’ in Hindi, which is symbolic of the service provided by the charity for survivors and those at risk of these types of crime.

The free online sessions are aimed at providing professionals with the knowledge they need to not only spot the signs but provide help to those at-risk.
