Our new ‘Discover Frodsham’ displays
The displays, which were installed in May at the station and on Main Street bus shelters are helping residents and visitors explore a variety of local places of interest on foot or by bike.
The QR codes on the displays provide links to four cycle and four walking routes set up on the council’s Komoot account which has already been visited over 400 times.

Here’s a photo of most of the people who made it happen! Pictured are Frodsham Town Councillors Pauline Lowrie and Aidan Holman; Cheshire West & Chester Councillor Lucy Sumner; Ashley McCraight and Frank White from Cycle North Cheshire (with Mark Warren — another key contributor — sadly missing from the photo); and Chris Kimberley from the North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership, which provided most of the funding. The photo was taken by Cllr Rachel Drapeur, who’s recently joined the team.
Sandstone Trail
There are many paths and byways around Frodsham that will appeal to walkers of all abilities and capacities, but one that stands out is the Sandstone Trail. This 34 Mile long Path follows the sandstone ridges from Frodsham to Whitchurch, Shropshire. An Obelisk outside the Bears Paw pub on Main Street marks the Frodsham end of the Trail. From there walkers head to the War Memorial at the top of Frodsham Hill, overlooking the town. Well marked with circular Yellow Signs noted with an “S” in a footprint, the trail will take you though a range of different terrain, following in part the Mid-Cheshire ridge and crossing part of the Cheshire Plain. Along, or near its route are ancient hill forts, castles, woods, and canals, and numerous other walks, similarly marked to enable hikers to vary a well trodden route, or create a loop bringing them back to Frodsham.
Working with Cycle North Cheshire reducing our use of cars, and doing more walking and cycling instead has a wealth of benefits, not just to carbon emissions. We would like to address any barriers there may be to choosing these ways of getting about in and around Frodsham.

The Active Travel Group have been using Komoot to map walks in Frodsham that will be linked to our printed active travel maps via a QR code.
