Volunteers’ Week is a national celebration of volunteers and volunteering, and this year takes place from 1-7 June.
Volunteering is a hugely valuable and rewarding experience for both volunteers and the communities they support.
As well as making a positive difference in your community volunteering can help you:
- learn and develop new skills
- meet lots of new people
- enhance your CV and make yourself more employable.
Frodsham has lots of great voluntary organisations volunteers. Earlier this year Cheshire West and Chester Council made a series of short videos celebrating the work of a range of voluntary organisations.
For Volunteers’ Week we decided to share with you the one featuring Frodsham Transition Initiative, and local resident Tom Blundell, who’s a co-opted member of our Environment Committee. Tom has been involved in planting trees for 40 years and is a co-opted member of our Environment Committee. Frodsham Town Council has been pleased to support the four community orchards on our land that Tom talks about in the video.
