Highways England are undertaking work to the Weaver Viaduct on the M56 motorway near Frodsham
These works are to replace the bridge joints and resurface the motorway. A letter from Highways England has been sent out to residents in the immediate vicinity of the works regarding the scheme.
In order to facilitate some of the works it will be necessary to close the motorway whilst works are carried out. These closures will be in place overnight to reduce the level of disruption on the local network during the day.
Dates for the closures are currently
- Friday 30th September
- Monday 3rd October
- Tuesday 4th October
- Wednesday 5th October
- All closures will be in operation from 20:00 to 06:00
There may be a requirement to close the M56 on a further 2 occasions toward the end of August / early September but are waiting for further information from Highways England on these dates.
Whilst the closure of the M56 is in place diversion routes will be implemented, with separate diversion routes for high sided vehicles due to the railway bridge in Frodsham.
Cheshire West & Chester Council are continuing to work closely with Highways England over the closure of the M56 motorway during these essential works.
