Frodsham Juniors FC has joined forces with Liverpool Ladies FC as a Gold member of Liverpool Ladies Sister Club scheme.
Liverpool Ladies (LLFC) are part of the FA Women’s Super League and play their home games just over the water from Frodsham at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes.
Frodsham Juniors FC have an established and growing girls section; a mixed academy starts at under 5s with a girls only development session available for girls aged 5-8. The Club also runs girls’ teams from under 9s through to under 18s. Frodsham JFC have joined the LLFC Sister Club programme to support the development of girls’ football and plan to expand the number of teams and female coaches within the club.
The programme has been specially designed for grassroots clubs, helping them to promote and develop female football through affiliation with their local Women’s Super League team. Frodsham currently have over 80 players across seven girls’ teams and would like to increase this to offer more children the chance to play, as well as providing further opportunities to those already involved.
As a Gold Sister Club, Frodsham JFC will have the chance to take part in a range of activities including tournaments and camps for players, coaching workshops and individual development plans, free tickets to Liverpool Ladies matches and senior player appearances at events which can be enjoyed by the whole club. Just five clubs are being offered the chance to affiliate to LLFC for the Spring Series, which begins in April and spaces are filling fast.
Paul Metheringham, LLFC General Manager, commented
It’s great to have a local team involved with the Sister Club programme and we’re looking forward to welcoming Frodsham on a regular basis to Widnes. They have great ambitions to grow the women’s and girls’ game in the area and it’s great through the Sister Club programme that we are able to support this.
