Frodsham Town Mayor Cllr Alan Oulton writes:
After our return from holiday Lorraine and I soon got back into our roles.
We attended and represented Frodsham at the annual Recovery Walk to raise awareness of substance use disorders and recovery from addiction. This year it was Blackpool’s turn to host this event. Over 5,000 people took part. The famous golden mile was closed to traffic for the duration of the event.
The other event we attended was the Winsford Salt Fair. This is held over 4 days and celebrates Winsford’s salt history and an ancient charter which allows the town to hold an annual fair.
Work patterns allowed us to attend the Friday Regatta on the River Weaver. The narrow boats were decorated for the event and we were treated to a trip on the Weaver. On the Sunday we attended an open air service held on the site of the dodgem cars on the funfair (dodgems stopped for the service!).
Many thanks to the River Weaver Navigation Society, the Mayor and the people of Winsford for their hospitality. We now have a Councillor on the River Weaver Navigation Society panel. Hopefully we can heighten Frodsham’s involvement in future events and developments on the Weaver.
