Mayor asks – Could you be an on-call firefighter?

Frodsham Mayor Councillor Alan Oulton writes:

“Whilst supporting the Firefighters Charity Car Wash recently, I was speaking to Dave Buckland, the Officer in Charge at the Fire Station on Ship Street.  He told me they are presently recruiting on-call firefighters for Frodsham fire station.

I served in the Fire Service for 30 years and in my opinion there is no better way of serving your community. As an on call firefighter you would be expected to attend up to three incidents a week on average, both in the Frodsham area and in other parts of Cheshire as support to other stations.

On call firefighters also attend weekly training sessions and further training at HQ in Winsford.

In return they receive a retaining fee paid monthly as well as being paid for each turnout to an incident, and other duties.

Anyone interested should pop along to the Fire/Police Station on Ship Street any Tuesday evening between 18.00 and 20.00 to chat to the firefighters.

Or go to www.cheshirefire.gov.uk. or telephone  01606 366711.

They are also on Twitter and Facebook.
