Halton Curve Celebrations

Frodsham Town Mayor, Cllr Liam Jones, Mayoress Michelle Carter and Junior Mayors Emily and Bailey were delighted to help celebrate the re-opening of the Halton Curve and the restoration of the direct rail link between Frodsham and Liverpool on Saturday.

The success of the local campaign to re-open the line was marked by the unveiling of two semaphore signals in Castle Park.

The event was organised by Cheshire West & Chester Council, North Cheshire Rail Users Group, the North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership and Castle Park Trust, with grant assistance from Frodsham Town Council.

The cake cutting to officially open the Halton Curve was performed by NCRUG’s first Chair Rosemary Heeley who launched the campaign 29 years ago and current Chairman Mark Warren with the cake being supplied by local bakers, Devonshire Bakery.

The project at Castle Park will eventually see information boards installed detailed the areas rich railway history. A fitting tribute to all involved in getting those services back to Liverpool.
