Removal of the tunnel at Churchfields play area completed

Frodsham Town Council has removed the tunnel from the mound at Churchfields play area to address concerns about anti-social behaviour in the tunnel and damage to its fabric.

Churchfields play area was refurbished in 2015 and the the new play equipment has proved extremely popular. However, unfortunately the Council’s annual play inspection identified splits in the fabric of the tunnel that raised safety concerns. After considering replacing the faulty tunnel, the Council decided it would be better to remove it, as there was no guarantee that the same technical fault would not reoccur, and the tunnel had been the site of anti-social behaviour.

Repairs to the safety flooring around the play equipment are also planned for the near future.
