Cheshire West & Chester Council (CWaC) provides each of its councillors with a budget of £5,000 in 2018-19 to be awarded to groups and projects that improve the quality of life and wellbeing of their local communities.
Since Frodsham has two CWaC councillors, this means that £10,000 is available locally under the scheme. Individual awards from the budget can be between £250 and £5,000.
Grants can be used for both revenue (running or day-to-day) costs and capital (fixed items) spends and awards from multiple ward Members may be pooled together on a ward or locality basis.
Detailed guidance, which should be read carefully, is given here on CWaC’s website, together with an application form, but in summary the application process involves the following steps:
- A community group completes an application form and submits it to CWaC’s Locality Team with the supporting documents
- A Locality Team within the Council checks that the application meets the criteria
- A Councillor(s) supports or rejects an application
- A Locality Team within the Council processes a payment to the community group (if an application is approved)
All applications must be fully completed and submitted by 30 November 2018 and all projects must be fully completed by 31 December 2018.
