Annual Luncheon of The Showman’s Guild

Frodsham was well represented at the Annual Luncheon of The Showman’s Guild in Burnley.

FTC Chair Cllr Judith Critchley attended, as did Cllr Mallie Poulton as a past Mayor and member and the co-founder of Frodsham Stroke Club Mrs Jean Johnson.

Cllr Critchley thanked the Silcock’s Fairground family for their sponsorship of Frodsham Christmas Festival and for donating 200 light sticks to the children on Frodsham on New Year’s Eve at the fireworks display on Churchfields. They kindly promised to do the same this year.

Councillor Poulton says “We were delighted to meet the new Speaker of The House of Commons, Sir Lyndsay Hoyle, and I was pleased that he will consider becoming a patron of one of the charities I support. The Showman’s Guild Annual Luncheon is one of the largest gatherings of the Civic Family better known as The Chain Gang. I look forward to attending next year.”

Councillor Critchley wore a new Chair’s chain of office, kindly commissioned and donated to Frodsham Town Council by Cllr Poulton’s late mother, Mrs Caroline Poulton in honour of her son’s year as Mayor. Frodsham Councillors thanked Cllr Poulton for his mother’s generous gift at their meeting on 13 January.
